The La Maddalena Archipelago National Park

Welcome to the enchanting world of the La Maddalena Archipelago, a natural gem located off the northeastern coast of Sardinia, composed of a total of 62 islands, each with its unique characteristics and beauty.

Please remember that the places mentioned on this page represent a list of the main natural attractions of the La Maddalena Archipelago. However, during a half-day tour, it is not possible to visit them all, as each place requires its own time to be fully appreciated.

The choice of places to visit will depend on various factors, including your interests, weather conditions, and the duration of the tour.

You will, therefore, have the freedom to customize your tour by choosing the stops that best reflect your preferences.

THE DEPARTURE

Palau, with its privileged location, is the ideal starting point for exploring the La Maddalena Archipelago. From here, you will embark on a journey through crystal-clear waters and spectacular landscapes to some of the most incredible destinations in Sardinia.
Continuing along the coast, we will make a stop at Porto Rafael, a hidden gem, to start the experience in the best possible way.

Isola di Spargi

Spargi Island

The island of Spargi is an untouched natural gem that will enchant you with its wild beauty, offering sandy beaches and remote coves.
We will have the opportunity to admire Cala Corsara, a hidden gem, Cala Soraya, only reachable by inflatable boat and named after Princess Soraya, captivated by its timeless beauty, and finally, we will also explore Cala Granara and Cala Conari (or Cala dell’Amore), two more natural wonders of Spargi.
This island offers unique views and panoramas, and our inflatable boat will allow you to discover all its beauties in a complete way.

Budelli Island and its Natural Pools

Here is one of the jewels of the archipelago: the island of Budelli, named after Mount Budello that guards it, and renowned for its Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach) and Natural Pools. Although Pink Beach is currently closed to the public, you can still admire it from the inflatable boat and see its characteristic pink sand, which is due to the presence of a microorganism that lives inside seashells, among the seagrass of the seabed.
On the island of Budelli, we can also visit the Spiaggia del Cavaliere, known for its soft white sand and crystal-clear waters.

Isola di Santa Maria

Santa Maria Island: The beauty of Cala Santa Maria

The northernmost island of the archipelago is also the closest to the Bocche di Bonifacio (Bonifacio Strait), bordering Corsica. We are talking about the Island of Santa Maria, which, with its rugged and irregular coastline, offers spectacular views of the surrounding sea. Here, wild nature and tranquility reign supreme, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere.

The island will enchant you with its pristine beach: Cala Santa Maria, a place that seems to have come out of a dream, surrounded by crystal-clear waters that, merging with its white sand, give the impression of being immersed in a real natural pool.

Razzoli Island: Cala Lunga and the secrets of Bonifacio

The Island of Razzoli, one of the northernmost islands of Sardinia, bordering Corsica, is known for its dominating cliffs. Considered the wildest island in the archipelago, it will captivate you with its pristine vegetation and its seabeds, rich in marine life and flora, ideal for snorkeling enthusiasts. One of the must-visit spots on the Island of Razzoli is Cala Lunga, with its secret places that harbor ancient legends.

Maddalena Island: The Heart of the Archipelago

Here is the largest inhabited island, and the one that gives its name to the archipelago: La Maddalena Island.
Within its 45 kilometers of perimeter, the island is dotted with various and breathtaking views: rocky coves and dreamy beaches, as well as hilly terrain, perfect for trekking enthusiasts.
If you wish, you can make a short visit to the center of La Maddalena, but keep in mind that the true beauty of the archipelago lies elsewhere.

Caprera Island: Cala Coticcio and its wild beauty

The Island of Caprera is renowned for having been the residence of Giuseppe Garibaldi during the last years of his life and is part of the Marine Protected Area of the La Maddalena Archipelago, which attests to the importance and richness of its protected marine fauna. This island, in fact, offers excellent opportunities for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Cala Coticcio, also known as the “Sardinian Tahiti,” is a must-visit and a true gem for those seeking the wild and unspoiled beauty of the Archipelago.

Isola di Santo Stefano

Saint Stephen Island: a place off the beaten tourist paths

Less known, but no less fascinating, is the Island of Santo Stefano (Saint Stephen Island). Few people visit this island, but those who do are left in awe of its beauty and unique charm, as well as the traces of ancient history that are still visible and mark the passage of leaders like Napoleon.
Its turquoise and crystal-clear waters contrast with the vibrant colors of the pink and white granite rocks.
